You can outlaw an organization, but you cannot outlaw the movement of a people who are determined to be free.

Step into the Movement

The Movement uses youth empowerment programming to position young people to explore movements and movement building. Youth demonstrate learning of history by researching, reflecting, and retelling the stories of the movement for human and civil rights in order to inspire participation in the movement today.

Beginning with the stories of Birmingham's part in the Civil Rights Movement, our youth historians and storytellers share their knowledge of history through video, audio, and AR narratives in The Movement mobile app. App users can experience short films as well as guided audio tours detailing the story of what happened or is happening in the movement created and told by Gen Zs.

After experiencing the immersive stories and guided tours curated by youth creatives in Birmingham, users will be invited to follow the magic--discovering how to authentically participate in the modern day movement for human and civil rights in Birmingham and beyond.
